Description

Get ready for an unforgettable evening with a programme that brings together three works which, whilst distinct in style and context, share an intense dramatic energy and a strong narrative thread, revealing different facets of 19th-century orchestral genius.
Beethoven’s Egmont Overture was composed for Goethe’s play of the same name. This work condenses into a few minutes an emotional journey that ranges from the initial darkness and tension to the triumphant affirmation of freedom. The vigorous and contrasting composition exemplifies Beethoven’s ideal of heroism and resilience.
Next, also by Beethoven, is the Piano Concerto No. 3, one of his most dramatic works, which strikes a balance between intensity and lyricism.
Here, we will be joined by António Rosado, a renowned pianist with a well-established international career, who will bring all his emotion and virtuosity to his performance of this landmark work.
To round off the programme, the overture Ruslan and Ludmilla by Mikhail Glinka offers a luminous and vibrant contrast. This piece is renowned for its sparkling energy, impetuous rhythm and orchestral brilliance, with a thrilling finale that celebrates the orchestra’s virtuosity.
The world premiere of a work by a young composer – Alexandre Vu – highlights the contrast between musical aesthetics and languages.
